Research is a fundamental area of support used to discover the causes of problems and their possible solutions. Our proposal refers to an investigation of community issues in which the researchers are not only professionally trained, but are also members of the affected communities. In this sense, academic work is fundamental, especially from universities in our areas that specialize in social, environmental, and agronomic research. The research projects should support our actions in all program areas. In South Florida, we have established a partnership with the Latin American and the Caribbean Center and Indigenous Global Forum, both from Florida International University (FIU). Similarly, we have an excellent relationship with Earth University in Costa Rica, which specializes in peri-urban and vertical agriculture. We hope to create additional relationships and partnerships with other research institutions.
